This route was created with the goal of connecting three of my favorite trails in Redding--Snail Trail, Trail 58, and French Fry--in one ride, with minimal road time.

You could shorten it in various ways including (a) cutting out Wintu and going straight up Escalator, (b) going clockwise around Mule Mountain to the top of Snail Trail (instead of CCW), and/or (c) cutting out Area 51, Salt Creek, and Trail 58 and riding straight to the French Fry TH along the road (Swasey to Eureka).

Alternatively, you could drive from Swasey TH (after you come down Snail Trail) to the French Fry TH, ride from the end of French Fry along Iron Mountain Road to Trail 58, and take that back to the French Fry TH.

Whatever you do, definitely bring plenty of food and water and plan to be riding for at least a few hours.

Trailforks scans users ridelogs to determine the most popular direction each trail is ridden. A good flowing trail network will have most trails flowing in a single direction according to their intension.
The colour categories are based on what percentage of riders are riding a trail in its intended direction.
