Rip and Tear Butterfly is a popular ride that features descents down both sides of Rip and Tear Loop. It is recommended that you ride up lower Rip and Tear then bounce over to the road (FSR 190) and take Shortcut road up to the top of Rip and Tear. This butterfly style figure-8 is best ridden east half first then finish with the west half where Rip and Tear dumps into Gladiator Loop.

Rip and Tear is known for is fast and fun flow with a few optional side hits and this butterfly style route
is the prefect way to ride it all.

It is not recommended that any uphill traffic use the section of Rip and Tear between FSR 190 and Spring Creek as it is purpose built for downhill use (even though it is multi-use, multi-directional).

This route can be paired with other rides as a fun way to extend or end rides using trails further up in the trail system.

Like all of the singletrack trails at Galena, this route is open to two-way traffic and shared use by hikers, horseback riders, runners, and bicyclists. Watch for and yield to others - on this and all trails. All Galena singletrack trails are closed to E-Bikes.
