High Point

The classic Kettle Crest finale.

From Sherman Pass, the KC trail is located a quarter mile or so downhill on the Eastside of the pass. Look for the trail sign, don't be fooled by the XC ski trail before the actual trail. Climb to a mosquito-infested T, and most then go left, clockwise. Continue climbing a slightly technical trail as you traverse around the SE side of Sherman Peak, eventually coming to another T. This time, go left to Snow Peak cabin. From the cabin, return the way you came, only go left to continue the loop around Sherman Peak. The descent to close the loop is a chunky, fun, joy to ride. Left at the next T, and descend back to the highway.

- shorten the route by skipping the out and back to Snow Peak Cabin
- do the loop around Sherman Peak CCW instead of CW

The Sherman Peak loop ride is best ridden clockwise and is a spirited climb from the road. It's a beautiful high alpine ride for advanced riders and in winter it's some of the best backcountry skiing in the state. You can add the trail to the Snow Peak cabin if your looking for more challenge. 2/10/18 Jb
