This route follows the iconic Skarland Ski trail, large loop. (There are shorter versions.) It is non-motorized. It is groomed for skiing in winter, with classic tracks and a narrow lane to the side for other non-motorized uses. In summer it has quite a few roots with some steep, though relatively short, hills. The Black Diamond rating is for skiing. In summer, it's more of an Intermediate trail.

Best direction for skiing is counter-clockwise. Direction doesn't matter in summer.
