Also known as the St. Charles County Epic, this ride uses the Katy and Hamburg Trails to access 3 popular area trail systems- Lost Valley, Matson Hill, and Klondike Park.
Beginning at the Weldon Spring Site, or "The Mound" the ride starts by taking the Hamburg Trail to Lost Valley and riding a part of that trail in whichever direction you prefer. Crossing over Hwy 94 to the Katy, one rides it all the way to Klondike, and then ride the trails there.
Jumping back on the Katy and heading back the way you came, you reach Matson Hill Rd. at the Defiance trailhead. Head up the steep climb to the pavement, and east until you come to Matson Hill Park. Ride the trails there, and head back down to the Katy either the way you came on the gravel road, or down the pavement to Defiance.
Once on the Katy, ride it back to the Katy/Hamburg junction, cross Hwy 94 again, and finish whatever section of Lost Valley you didn't ride the first time. Then it's up the Hamburg Connector to the Hamburg, and return to where you parked at The Mound.
