SOC website says "Sunday‚Äôs cross country race features close to 30 miles"... So, I'm guessing that means two laps on this course?

I checked in with SOC and it is one lap for Cat 2/3.

Weird. Much shorter than last year. Kind of a bummer.

Thx for checking... I have a call in myself... Almost too short to justify all the related costs... Bummer... I *was* looking forward to it.

Looks like this year's version of the SOC XC course is another step closer to it being a gravel race. I can understand shortening the distance for Cat 3 to make it more accessible, but this distance for Cat 2 is not really competitive.

Am I reading this map correctly? Is it running the opposite direction from last year?

Seems to be... Looks to be starting off along the hoof-stomped ranchland...

Traditional direction for years. The "backwards" courses have been those of the last few years. I'm looking forward to it being "correct" this year. 8^)

There are a few turns that are pretty easy to miss and the one loop in the midsection is easy to do in reverse so if you havent ridden these spots def give it a preride so you dont get lost like me

Confirmed with SOC it's a 14 mile xc cat 2 race this year. Reverse direction from previous few years, up hurl hill, down Skyline Rd to start.

It looks like the course is 14.44 miles based on map above, buy that doesn't include all the distance on the race track and following the Pro XC short course for part of it, Looks like it could be in total closer to 18-20 miles??

Looks like you were right :-)... Wish the organizers had promoted it as such. Have to keep your analysis in mind for future events.

When I registered I thought I was going to ride and old school 30 mile course. 1 speeders were going to have a 1 hour break before the cat 2s started. I apparently had it all wrong. Switched my reg from cat 2 1x to cat 2 60-69. Same bike.
