High Point

Windy Pass is a mighty epic. Plan on being out all day and make sure you get an early start. You will climb up Taylor Basin and your high point is Windy Pass, which is an awesome place for a meal break. From here on the ride is mostly downhill… but the ride out along the Gun Creek Trail can be shattering on tired legs as there are loads of short steep climbs and flat traverses. You might strongly consider parking a retrieval vehicle at the junction of Gun Creek Road and Tyaughton Lake Road as the final few kilometers back up to Tyax Lodge are steep and by the time you get there you are beyond tired.

This is an incredible epic ride with jaw dropping views and incredible single track.

The descent down to Spruce Lake from Windy Pass has been getting a bit eroded in the past few years so be careful in some of the troughs that have developed.
