Make sure you always travel with a paper map when riding in the Chilcotins as you should not rely on battery powered devices solely for navigation in remote areas. If you are unsure about your navigation skills you can also hire a guide.

This is one of the classic routes in the Chilcotins. The parking for the ride is located off the Tyaughton Lake Road and a few kilometers up a secondary forest service road. It is confusing so follow your GPS or map to get to the trail head and parking.

We have marked the trail head a bit beyond where you will likely park (although you can park at this trail head GPS starting point - you need a good 4x4 to get right up to this point). It seems that that GPS track is a bit wonkey on Trailforks for this trailhead and you will be turning left and climbing up at the point we have marked as the start of the ride - this might not make sense now, but it will when you are standing at the starting point.

You then climb the up into the Taylor Basin. A good place for a quick recharge is the old cabin on your left just a half kilometer before the Camel Pass Trail. Another awesome place for a rest or lunch is the top of Camel Pass... but it is often quite windy up there.

Descend down to the High Trail and follow it along until you see Molly Dog on your right. Turn left at Pearson Bench then ride Frieburg Trail right to the Tyax Lodge. Congrats you did it. Now go for a swim in the lake!

There is 1 tree down towards bottom of trail. It is pretty difficult to see, come up on it fast. Keep your heads up, and slow down to avoid slamming in to it. Needs a chainsaw
