Bound for glory is this ride, destined to by a TSBD classic.
Shuttle needed for this alpine romp. Start at Cathrines Pass Trail Head and head down towards the base of Sugar Loaf Lift. Dawn your Lycra and start pedaling, this climb is the step mother in law of all climbs. Sugarloaf Pass Road all the way up. It sucks so bad that I made it the one and only timed section of this course. The lunatic to climb up to the top of Sugarloaf Pass the fastest gets a bottle of Jim Beam (and gets to watch the rest of us drink it).
Saddle up and point the bike down into Mineral Basin, just like that prom date (that you all wish you had), she tends to get loose and wild here. Plunge down the double track and take the first junction to climb up to the top of the Tram. Look down at that front chainring hopefully your at 30T, if not, sorry. Ride/Walk/Push the bike up to the tram deck.
Rest easy now all the hard work is done sort of. When your ready hop on Big Mountain Trail (BMT), a lot of disappointed folks out there when this trail was first built, but for what it is, its a great all mountain trail. Fight the arm pump and grind it out to the junction of Midway and The Dick Bass Highway. Turn right onto Dick Bass and bomb it to the Base.
Head on down to the tram club and grab a shot and beer to rehydrate. If you body or bike needs attention the base should have everything you need to get you back on the trail.
Climb back on the bike and pedal up on Midway look for the connection to baby thunder just before your reach the junction with BMT. Take Baby Thunder and rip down to connect with White Pine. I love this section of trail (white pine) just kind of a hidden gem at snowbird. Finish up at the bridge and up to the White Pine Trail Head Parking lot.
If you've made it that far and haven't worn out your spandex or white tube socks yet, I'll fill you in on the reminder of the course. But your gonna have to come along to find out.....
