My comments refer to the whole Vista trail; Trailforks has artificially separated the two segments of the single Vista trail. Going on that notion, this trail is singular, as in one of its kind in Wisconsin and my candidate for the state’s best trail. Not sure if it was built for hiking or riding or both, which is to say it’s not a newschool downhill trail with berms or jumps. It is, however built for fun, high speeds, and whoops galore. It does include some climbing, so it’s not all smiles, but you ride and descend longer than you think possible for the Midwest. My one beef with the trail (well, yes, it could also use some berms!) is that it’s two way and hikers also like it. While we can’t do anything about the hikers, it’s a little douche-baggy to ride this uphill as you’re one more obstacle and danger for the riders having fun on the descent. If there weren’t other ways back up, this wouldn’t be a valid argument. But there is: Bicentennial (among other options, I think). Although Bicentennial isn’t singletrack (does it really matter on the way up?), it has the added benefit of being more direct and faster as an ascent than douche-baggily heading up Vista. That way you’ll have more time to scream back down Vista another time! Enjoy!

The intermediate rating on this trail is somewhat misleading — there are no difficult technical aspects, but the grade is VERY steep in sections and will be physically challenging to ride for all but the strongest riders.
