The Ute 100 is an ultra-marathon in the La Sal mountains of Southern Utah. The race is 100ish miles with close to 36,000 feet of elevation change. The event begins and ends at the Mount Peale Animal Sanctuary and Healing Center in Old La Sal, Utah, about 40 minutes south and east of Moab, UT.

Starting at 3:00 A.M., runners will head out on a dirt road for five miles to the first climb up and around, the 11,700 ft. South Mountain. At 6:30 A.M. the sun will be rising over the San Juan Mountains and Paradox Valley in nearby Colorado. Runners will start seeing glimpses of the panoramic and expansive views that will be hallmark of this course.

Other course highlights include incredible vistas from different points along the trails, including the 360 degree view from the top of Manns Peak, the highest point on the course. You will be running in valleys shadowed by 11,000+ ft. peaks, including Haystack Mountain, Mt. Tuk, and Mt. Peale. You will pass by trout filled high mountain lakes, and swift running snow fed streams. Lastly, the Jimmy Keen and Pinhook Valley loops will let you snap pictures of the spires of Castle Valley. Sunset will glow off the surrounding red rock of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. During the night hours, the stars and Milky Way will illuminate the nearly zero-pollution night sky

Overall, the course is about 30 miles of alpine meadows, 30 miles of Aspen groves, 30 miles of high desert, and 10 miles above tree-line in the scree covered hillsides.

There are fully stocked aid stations along the course. All participants will receive a unique race shirt, professional photographs, and a hot meal at the finish. Finishers will received a beautiful 100 Mile belt buckle for conquering this challenging course.
