Trail Baden Powell (Fromme Section)
Rode this west to east after exiting Expresso and holy crap this trail has some technical and challenging sections! Although there are some traversing sections on this trail that are blue in difficulty overall it's a black, a pretty difficult black at that. It's fun and challenging but if you are an intermediate rider this trail will eat you alive and you'll probably be walking a chunk of it.

You got it, it's the blackest blue trail on the shore! All I can say is you should have seen it 6 years ago. A few thousand hours over the last six years have gone into fixing up this section of trail. We haven't eliminated the gnar but there are some relatively smooth lines (albeit about 4" wide) through the rougher sections. This trail definitely helps folks progress!

Watch out at the bottom of the second ladder (at entrance) a big puddle hole scour that will harsh your fork. Still rideable but if you rode it before and your are not comfortable with such a hole check it before sending it.

A bit of a surprise, a fun surprise, but after a pretty mellow traverse from expresso the trail changes it’s vibe quite drastically! Be prepared to ride through like 10 rock gardens. Very well put together rock gardens, but somewhat twisty rock gardens nonetheless. Helps to know what to expect! That being said still a great way to get back to the parking lot.

Ridden many times...decided to finally post a comment lol. I really only use BP to ride back out to the Upper Parking Lot and the final descent once you get past Big Stupid is no joke. You can create and carry some ridiculously fun speed down here. Be careful though, as hikers regularly use BP, both ways. You CAN get down the final descent in about 1:30, but your hands will not like it.

Rode a big portion of this trail west to east it was really fun recommend for riders who like tech up and downs and picking lines great to have something a little rougher next to some of the more well groomed berm trails- variety is the key-

Trail Bobsled
Probably the best flow trail on fromme (can't decide between expresso or this). Such fun for intermediate/advanced riders to see how fast they can go and super fun for beginners getting into mountain biking, with low consequence features and virtually no tech.

Very light black, but good trail nonetheless. Good features to progress on. Good trail for people progressing from blue to blacks or a warmup.

Trail Expresso
Amazing entry level black, the best flow trail on the Shore by far (sorry Bobsled). I would consider it slightly easier than Floppy just becuase it's a bit more flowy and faster for intermediates, and definitely worth the climb. I always finish my day riding Expresso during golden hour.

Found a piece if wood with a 3" nail sticking up out of it on a bridge going eastward just before pipeline exit. Seemed to be placed there purposely. It has been disposed of now. I will upload an image.

Thank you for taking care of that. I'll swing through and take a good look.

A decent but challenging traverse trail back from Espresso. Some of the steeps could be made a bit more ridable. The large rock gardens will be dangerous for many riders if it's wet. Only worth riding west to east.

I just started riding this week and did two runs on this today! I had to walk sections since I’m super new but loved that there were easier options for me to test out as a newer rider. Felt really accomplished when I rode out 85% of the trail and had a blast testing myself on it. Can’t wait to keep progressing my skills up there and learning to hit some of the higher trails

Yup. I can honestly say that I'm over Baden. It's now just another fee to pay if you want to ride Expresso. Shaves some life off of your bike everytime you ride it.

There are several sections on this trail that will f*ck a beginner up, especially in the wet. With that being said there are a few pretty fun sections on this trail and overall not terrible for a traverse.

The trail totally rocks! Should have seen it 10-15 years ago
Great progression trail after the warmup on Expresso. Unbelievable amount of work done on this trail the last few years to make it more blue like, but it keeps fighting back

Like everyone says, not a blue. This is some sort of a prank.

this trail is awesome. i love how it’s so accessible because you don’t have to climb to the top. and i also like how it’s beside bobsled. i like doing a couple laps of bobsled and floppy bunny

Awesome trail. Very similar in difficulty to Espresso. Comical that this is the same difficulty rating as Bookwus.

Sometimes 1-2 features can make a trail rated the way it is. Realistically this should be a blue with black options. Waving on the side of caution and liability I think the black rating is just fine. Hope you like it.

Agree with the comments here -- this is by far the blackest blue trail anywhere on the North Shore. It tends to get pretty beaten up as well, and can get super-gnarly. There are several corners on the downhill section going East towards Mtn Highway (from Espresso / Pipeline, etc.), that are essentially steep rock gardens, and pretty slippery especially when they're wet. Not to mention the beginning of the downhill section... the mandatory steep ladder onto steep rock garden, with a slight left turn at the bottom, would be pretty intimidating, even for a black trail.

Don't know if i would rate the trail blue as there are a few parts that are a little techy and steep(especially at the start if you are used to trails like bobsled) but for sure a fun entry level black thats a small taste of whats to come higher up the mountain. If you are a less experienced rider like I am getting into black diamond trails and trying to improve
or just wondering what a soft black trail looks like on fromme this trail is great, just make sure you know where the optional features are so you dont go down them accidentally.
All around an awesome trail perfect for building up skill level through optional and mandatory features that arnt too hard and are safe aswell as a great quick warm up run before the long climb!

Trail Expresso
Rode the trail a couple days ago for the first time. Although its rated blue on trail forks there are some harder sections and some decent drops, this may partly be because the trail has gotten a bit beaten up from winter and all the traffic it receives but with the current virus situation there may not be much trail maintenance for a while so keep that in mind if your expecting something really blue your first time down the trail. Still a really fun trail and great entry level black diamond, if you can handle floppy bunny(the more techy parts and bridges not the optional jumps) and you want to step it up I would recommend it, the climb is long in comparison but its a fun trail with the hardest features optional so you can work your way up to them, also the hardest non-optional parts are pretty easy to walk and there are only a couple.
All around awesome entry level black trail and im exited to ride it again in the next couple of days!

Trail Bobsled
Trail in great shape, although its voted green there are some parts that are blue. Great for newer riders just go to the left when you see the sign with arrows (right has two drops, one with and one without a roll down) and if you want a smoother exit take another left when the trail splits as to the right is the original exit which is still great but has a few drops and rocks where as the new exit (left) is super flowy and easy and takes you right to the parking lot.

Similar to many of the comments above I took this trail as a connector from Expresso. This trail did surprise me as due to the rock paths they have created (I think for hikers) it is actually pretty challenging, definitely harder than Expresso in my view.

Rode this trail after trying Expresso the 2nd time. Was very technical for me but was really fun. Walked most of the uphill part and some sketchy descent. You just have to be mindful since a lot of hikers are on this trail as well. Will definitely try again this weekend after pipeline or expresso.

This is NOT a blue trail; it should be marked as black diamond. I ride blue trails almost exclusively with couple black ones thrown in, and this one is by far the hardest I've done. There are some "black" trail in Squamish and Seymour that are easier than this one.

Hi Guys, I was riding Saturday around 4:00 and saw couple of guys on eBikes riding cross country through the woods (maybe crossing between Crippler and ESpresso)...
Unfortunately I did not manage to talk to them - but if anybody knows who they were or sees them again, please highlite that riding off trails with ebikes especially will cause damage to our sport and the fantastic location on the northshore.
btw. I am a eMTB rider as well... and there is more then enough fun on the perfect existing trails!
Please respect and share this attitude!!!!

Took the trail to go back to the parking lot after Espresso and I can safely say that this trail is significantly harder. Super steep rocky climbs lead to super steep rocky descents. The descents are really fun though.

You know how when you go for a breakfast buffet and, if you're like me, you reach for the bacon first? But you only grab maybe 4 or 6 pieces because there's so many other delicious items, like hash browns, eggs, and maybe even some prime rib? So when you clean your plate, and think about seconds, sadly you're just too full.
You know you'll be hungry later, and you'll regret not filling your plate with more of that crispy bacon.
Well bacon to a breakfast buffet is what Bob Sled is to Mt Fromme.
Go for seconds.

This trail is exceptionally technical with massive uphill rock gardens, steep stairs, and not much fun for me as an intermediate rider
[Reply]

Yeah, that was the blackest blue I've ever ridden. However, I had a great time rolling those steps and re enforced stone descents back to parking. Great trail in its own right.

This is the hardest blue trail I’ve ever ridden. Especially east to west; I had to push my bike.

THis trail rules. As a newer rider it has some nice features that are helping me progress as a rider. I like that the small drops have clear landings. As i grow more comfortable I can try more difficult ones up the hill. Thanks to the builder.

The trail was originally called green tunnel, a fun fast loamy trail that was easy and fun. Continued use and rain made it the nasty chunder it was. Someone went in and built a bunch of ghetto stunts.
Pat has been working hard to put it back to the easy gentle trail it originally was.
Not quite as natural, but what do you expect after years or use and weather.

There are so many gnarly trails. People put hard work into those trails. Dont complain just keep pedalling to grannie pipeline ladies oilcan. Gota be something for everyone. I like gnarly trails too. Thats why i go up higher but im not gona rip someone who put all that effort in. Go ride floppy for 1.5mins and go back up for the rest of your ride. No pleasing people on the shore anymore
