Start at Esmeralda parking lot, or park at Beverly and ride up the road to the Esmeralda parking lot. Right up the hiking trail (old mining road.) You'll soon pass the turnoff to Longs pass and Ingalls lake (both closed to bikes). Continue on the trail which follows the valley floor for several miles before switchbacking up the north side of the valley. Eventually you'll reach a saddle. Continue over the other side, trail is thin and not well marked, until you reach old Fortune Creek 4wd road. (Note, a great loop is to take a left at road, then left at lake to descend Boulder De Roux back to Beverly parking.)

Trail is mostly ridable but sometimes deep with loose rocks.
