Trail 391 begins where Copper Basin Rd. turns to dirt. This trail is mainly used as a bypass of Camp Stein for the Whiskey Off-Road course since the trail through the camp is only open for the race.
This is a sharp downhill to the creek, don't get too comfortable... get ready to climb. The trail goes from smooth to loose and rocky. A couple tight switchbacks keep you on your toes. Eventually the trail levels out and you come to an intersection with Trail 327.
If you are looking for scenery, this is not the trail for you.

Recommend descending this down toward Copper Basin Road. It's a pretty fun switch backy trail with some good views with what I assume is a recently thinned forest. It does descend into a creek toward then end and there is a steep climb out that most will push up. Signs suggest you are very close to private property and this is such nice access point I would suggest being respectful. Climbing this trail is not as gradual as Copper Basin road but it's much more direct than trying to get to Potts Creek Trail via Aspen Creek Trailhead and Cold Creek. If you are trying to get back over to lower Thumb Butte road via FR 51 this is probably worth the climb as it's so much more direct.
