Trail is halfway done. Shouldn't even be on trailforks at this point. Its a loose, jeep road. I should mention I did start from the bottom, as I was looking for a chunky, technical climb. Maybe up higher this turns into a real black diamond trail...but all I could see in front of me was loose gravel and
rocks so I cut it short.

At this time the trail is okay for hikers. A large portion is finished, but you do have to follow a wider trail just cut by a small machine. The views are wonderful from the top. It's worth the effort.

Missed opportunity with this trail. The “black” rating is far from accurate. The trail has a few black sections between a way over sanitized trail that is almost a road in some places. Not sure if the person who built this trail had much “trail” building experience. I hope they go back and turn the repurposed road section into a flow trail and also replace some of the boulders that were removed from the upper section. Then it might hold some value other than the vertical climb and view.

Trail is complete, 50% singletrack. The singletrack parts are very rocky, perhaps a blue, but largest rocks for this system. After mile 1.9 is a repurposed road, makes for a fast downhill and lame way up (Climb 551 instead). The road section would be perfect for some well placed rock lips/drops as it afford high speed and wide landings. These trails aren’t as terrible as some commenters make them seem, they work well for bikes but do lack berms and modern flow.

I really enjoyed Higher Learning. I rode it CW but didn’t ride the lower (eastern) portion. The dirt is amazing and was holding some moisture after a few snow squalls and flurries. The trail has sections of janky rock gardens, but I enjoyed the tech! Not too over manicured IMO. The trail builders did an amazing job with this entire trail system. It’s fun, fast, and has some flow. The lack of berm turns keeps you honest and makes you check your speed on the hairpin turns going DH, especially if it’s dry and loose.

Excellent upper loop when coupled with Higher Learning. Avoid lower section.
