This is a narrow, apparently not regularly maintained trail between Hwy 88 and Kirkwood Lake.

It goes through the wood, and is shaded. It runs along big, gently sloped rock formations that are typical for the landscape in that area of the mountain. The rocks are easy for climbing and exploration by little feet.

Access Info

The trail can be seen in the Eldorado National Forest trails map (see https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/eldorado/maps-pubs).

The trail start from Hwy 88 side can be found at the end of a little access road, off of 88. At the time of our visit, there was a dumpster from that seemed to belong to forest service right next to the start.

The trail start from Kirkwood lake is indicated by a small wooden sign nailed on one of the trees saying "To Hwy 88".
