From the parking area at the end of Lynx Creek Ruins Rd. ride across the rocky dry creek and pass the gate. Be sure to go ride approximately 50 ft past the gate then an immediate left.

The first portion of the loop is a gentle climb with a couple steep rocky section thrown in to keep yo on your toes. Be sure to look at the rock wall on your left as you climb as you'll see many petroglyphs.

Once at the top you get a great view of the forest that lies on the south side of Prescott. Then a fast downhill with multiple switch backs awaits you.

If you still feel like riding, try the trail counter-clockwise for an entirely different experience.

Absolute first bike trail on my mountain bike. A little disappointing to see that the average time for this 4 mile trail is 10 minutes. I have a long way to go before i can do that.

After you cross the creek take a sharp left, if you go strait you are going up a wash that is not the trail. Also after the first gate few feet up take a right to hop onto the main single track. There are about 5 gates total which is kind of a bummer. Would be nice if they had ride over gate bridges instead of a standard gate so you can stay in the groove. Great trail though.

Fun short ride with some short technical sections, but overall it's a fun smooth ride. There's a few gates to go through but no biggie..Check out the ancient Indian petroglyphs about 1.5 miles or so in if you ride it clockwise. There difficult to see unless you know about them and on the rocks to the left as you pass through a rocky area of a dry stream right before a good little hill climb..sorry didn't check the exact distance. fun ride !

The petroglyphs (Native American writings) on the rock are located on the left side of the trail going clockwise, approximately 0.8 mile from the trailhead. They are on a large rock about 20' off the trail.

I have done Salida Gulch trail two times on my bike with times of 43 and 46 minutes, going clockwise. Be careful at the top of the gulch, pretty steep with big drop to creek bed. Backside is a little steep as you go down with some lose rock/gravel and a couple of really tight switchback turns.
