Se cuenta en las leyendas que Akerbeltz protege a los animales que están a su cuidado, e incluso tiene poderes para curar sus enfermedades. Líder del akelarre, este genio de la mitología vasca lidera la insurrección contra la religión y el orden establecido, defendiendo las antiguas creencias relacionadas con la espiritualidad de la naturaleza.

El sendero comienza desde la cima del monte Seanbe, en un precioso hayedo, entre unos pasos de piedra estrechos y tramo inclinado, hasta llegar a la guarida de Akerbeltz, un nevero en el que salir de ahí nos exigirá tanto física como técnicamente.

El sendero sigue con sube-bajas técnicos, pasos entre rocas, hasta llegar a la zona abierta, en la que tendremos unas vistas increíbles hacia todo el valle de Basaburua. Seguiremos la dinámica de inclinación y piedras durante los siguientes metros, que junto a las curvas y pasos de roca técnicos, nos harán dar todo lo que tenemos dentro.

A medida que vamos perdiendo altitud, nos adentramos en un bosque de hayas y castaños en el que el sendero gana fluidez. Aún así, no podremos dormirnos, ya que de vez en cuando nos encontraremos con algún paso técnico.

El sendero nos deja en la carretera que parte desde el pueblo de Beruete (Basaburua) hacia las antiguas sidrerías. La bajada más exigente de la zona, para los amantes del enduro del duro.

Aunque es un sendero construido para el MTB, a veces nos encontraremos con senderistas en dirección contraria.
