The Alexander MacKenzie Trail is a fast, flowy trail featuring short punchy climbs, many narrow ridge top sections and fast twisty sections through trees. This is an excellent early season trail as it is snow free usually in early April. The trail is a 30 km out and back that heads West along a bench through stands of Douglas fir, birch and aspen. The South-facing slopes are covered with cured pine grass, juniper and some very large fir veterans.
The trail is located at the 42 km mark of the Blackwater Forest Service Road, which is just south of Prince George. (42 km past the Baldy Hughes Therapeutic Community).
