The Alpine Trail ascends from the Summit Ski area up to the bottom of the Stormin' Norman ski lift at Timberline Ski Area. It has historically been used by employees at the ski area to get down to their residences in Government Camp as well as folks who hitchhike up to the Timberline ski area. It is mostly moderate terrain with low avalanche potential and some steep sections. It's not recommended for snowboards when the snow is wet and heavy. This can be combined with the Glad Trail to build a loop if desired or skied as an out and back. This is a great beginner backcountry trail or just somewhere to come bang out a couple of backcountry laps while you break in your new skins. If you're really ambitious, you can continue past Stormin Norman all the way to the top of Palmer. It is open as a hiking route during the Summer.
