Anderson Pass is a wooded area between Crystal Crescent Beach's walking trail and East Pennant Road. The trail consists of a good mixture of downhill, moderate uphill climbs, and semi challenging areas with rock, water, and mud (depending on the weather). There is a lot of growth and some manageable fallen trees so gloves and glasses help avoid scratches. There are a couple of very challenging spots including short but rocky slope that may not be passable without dismounting. If you don't want to turn around at East Pennant Road, you can follow Sambro Creek Road back to Crystal Crescent Beach Road to arrive back at the parking lot.

Access Info

The best approach to arrive at this trail is to park at the second parking lot for the beach and ride the walking trail south for just over a half kilometer. Pay close attention to walkers and the blind turns. The wooden bridges and quick hills make you want to go fast - but the trail can have many pedestrians depending on the weather. There is also a small wooden staircase along this trail that can be easily avoided on the right. At about the 600 meter mark where the trail surface turns to a rocky uphill climb, turn right into the wooded path to start Anderson Pass.

If the beach gate is closed (out of season), you can park at the beach entrance (gravel road) or at East Pennant Road where Anderson Pass ends, and make a loop in under a half hour.

If you miss the turn off, you may find yourself at the infamous "third beach"
