Angel Peak is arguably one of the most scenic off-road trails near Mt. Charleston, Nevada. It climbs to nearly 9000' in elevation and is 17 miles long from start to finish. The terrain is quite steep with long stretches of loose rock. A high clearance vehicle with 4wd is highly recommended. Run the trail from either direction, however, if you're running it for the first time, we suggest starting on Kyle Canyon Road and finishing at the 95. The Lucky Strike Mine Trail converges with the Angel Peak Trail on the north side of the summit, towards the 95. Due to washout of the narrow trail, it can get sketchy in parts. Exercise caution when you run this portion of the trail, especially if you run it from the 95 to Kyle Canyon Road. Or if you'd rather, you may choose to run the trail from Kyle Canyon Road to the summit and back the same way. The summit is an incredible location to capture 360 degree images of Mt. Charleston and the Las Vegas Valley. It's often quite windy and cold at the summit, so travel prepared for the weather. The Angel Peak Trail offers a challenging and unique perspective of the mountains. It's definitely worth exploring, if you have the vehicle clearance and expertise to safely make the trek.
