The Appaloosa trail is the most direct route to Hidden Falls from the Rock Creek campground. It is only a moderately steep trail, but lack recovery spots for climbers. The descent is punctuated with shut-down off-camber corners and other features that prevent riders from safely maintaining speed. The trail bisects the 24 mile Tarbell loop and is best used as a climbing route that allows riders to do short loops that descend from Kloochman Butte or the summit of Larch. As the name implies, this trail is popular with equestrians so use caution if you are descending.
