Novice and intermediate riders be warned. Much of this trail system isn't well-maintained. Barely anything is marked so it's easy to get lost, even with GPS, because the routes wind around in all directions. Many areas run along the creek and some sections have badly eroded into the creek. Major hazard for anyone moving at a good clip. There are also some extremely steep drop offs even pro riders would probably not attempt. If you're going to hit this area, stick to the well-marked paved and gravel trails or stay close to them. If you see a fallen tree across a trail avoid that path. It's probably been ignored for good reason. According to the local bike shop, the dirt MTB trails are 100% volunteer maintained and tend to be advanced/expert designed because those are the kinds of riders building them.

The designated MTB trails are actually quite well maintained. Look for orange squares (both on posts and trees), and follow those signs. I've been out there a few times in the past couple weeks, and the trails were in great condition.
