This starts off as a pretty easy fire road climb, and would be a fast, but not wildly exciting decent coming from Chestnut Mtn.
As the trail goes on it gets more primitive.
Once you hit the field with the old homestead, the trail takes a left and heads straight up the hill for a mile or so.
This section is the some of the steepest trail I've seen. Good luck.

At the top you'll see a trail sign to get to Chestnut.

Starts out as a typical Bozeman hiking trail with a fair amount of space to pass. Nothing special until it reaches a fun section with lots of opportunities for jumps on the way down (in about the middle). The rest of the ride is extremely steep.

I rate the ride 3 stars. I would give it more but the trail is prone to mud and has tons of mosquitoes/flies to deal with.
