Die lokale Mountainbike Route Bernina Express hat den Namen vom legendären Zug der Rhätischen Bahn übernommen, der über den Berninapass fährt, und ist ebenso abwechslungsreich wie inspirierend. Die Rückfahrt von Poschiavo mit dem Zug ist Teil dieser Tour, die das Hochtal Engadin mit dem südlichen Valposchiavo verbindet. Ab Samedan führt die Route dem Bernina Tal entlang durch einmalig schöne Landschaften, die immer wieder den Blick auf die imposanten Gletscher des Bernina Massivs frei geben. Auf der Passhöhe geht es links am Lago Bianco vorbei, bevor die Abfahrt ins Valposchiavo beginnt. Schon nach wenigen Metern Abfahrt spürt und riecht man das südlich Klima und die veränderte Vegetation. Die Terrasse des Restaurants Belvedere oder das Buffet des Bahnhofs Alp Grüm laden zu einer Genuss- und Verschnauf-Pause ein. Ab Cavaglia kann man der ausgeschilderten Route folgen, diese führt über Schotter- und Asphaltstrassen, oder die technisch anspruchsvollere Variante entlang der Bahntrasse und dem alten Pfad wählen. Auf der Bahnfahrt von Poschiavo zum Berninapass bekommt man einen Eindruck vom Pioniergeist der Menschen die diese Strecke vor über 100 Jahren gebaut haben. Es lohnt sich, wenn möglich, in einem offenen Wagen -Cabrio- platz zu nehmen. Die flowige Abfahrt vom Berninapass nach Pontresina ist der krönende Abschluss dieser abwechslungsreichen Tour.

       This is a nice gravel bike trail for family rides. Towards the top it's signal track with some rock sections but there's only one small section that is good MTB single track flow (good fun) otherwise most of the trail is sleepy. Beautiful views and waterfalls but more of a family ride.
