This is an Indian trail that was converted to a wagon road used by early smugglers. The Park lists it as a four-wheel drive route, but it is rarely maintained. I've had to shoulder my bike in a couple of places. There are long sand pits on the River Road. The old Mariscal Mine is about halfway, and makes a great rest stop. There is no water nor cell service on most of this road, so be prepared.
This is a "long cut" from the Glen Springs Road. The few times I've done this ride, I had to self-support. This road adds about 13 miles to the Glen Springs ride.
Back Country permit required. Check in at Panther Junction. Frequent washouts and sand pits. Trail rarely maintained.
