Bring bear spray, travel in groups and make some noise. You are in Grizzly country here and it is rare you don't see foot prints in the trail if you look. Prepare to suffer on the way up and love it on the way down. The further out you go, the steeper and looser it gets. This is true big mountain riding. Trail conditions vary widely, you are remote and you are not the top of the food chain. This trail gets heavy horse use from local dude ranches. It is best ridden in the evening after the dudes head off to dinner.
Look for the large memorial next to the highway and using the parking lot just behind it, towards the river. Ride the bridge across the river and look for the trail heading off to your left where you immediately cross the creek either on a small foot bridge or by getting your feet wet.
