Bobtail Ridge is an excellent cross-country / all-mountain ride. A loop ride takes a bit of effort, but is well with the trip down. The trail is well-maintained as a biking trial. The trail begins with several miles of rolling ridgeline. It consists of alternating gentle ups and downs, with several steep climbs. At approximately 3.5 miles, the trail becomes all downhill with section of great switchbacks. Start on the north end and head south.

Access Info

Bobtail ridge can be accessed via 2 separate gravel road climbs. Both can be arduous uphill grinds, but well worth it once you hit the trails. The first option is National Forest road 6146. Turn west off Bobtail Rd onto NF6146. Park at the first Y and being the climb up taking the right side of the Y. The second option is head up Quartz Mountain Rd. Head north on Quartz Mountain Rd. Park near the intersection with 6146. Begin the ride heading north on 6146, turning right on FR6704. Continue to the trailhead on the right. The last option would be to shuttle riders to the trailhead.

You could but it's super steep in places; the ride up the Forest Service road isn't bad
