The trail begins at the Lake Evelyn Trailhead. The first mile of trail is an old logging road. A single track trail emerges on the left before crossing Keyser Creek and is signed for Bottle Pass. The beginning of the trail begins at a moderate grade on a long switchback. Bottle Pass Trail takes off from the Lake Evelyn Trail (#15) after approximately 1 mile. The trail gains elevation as it approaches Bottle Pass. The last half mile is quite steep. Hikers must proceed to the north, up and over Bottle Peak to arrive at Bottle Pass.
