The trail climbs up through varied terrain and vegetation, often with vistas and views, and crosses other trails. It shares a very short portion of Boundary Ridge Trail between Sundog Loop and East Crystal Line trails. After crossing Boundary Ridge higher up it breaks out onto open slopes with many good viewpoints. Once across the open slope, stay close to treeline and there is a gate to cross the fence near the highest point. Descend following markers and enter an old cut line, turn right and follow this down to Iron Horse.

Trail starts just south of the equestrian parking lot, heads west to the common bridge and then takes a left fork immediately after the bridge.
