Following the original trial layout built years ago, this new and improved trail at Brownie Lake adds 1.5 miles of advanced riding to the ever-growing Minneapolis singletrack trail system. The design of the trail diverges from the "flow" style trail to the north, and introduces a bit of janky, tight, steep, sometimes frustrating, and always crazy riding. There are 26 rock sections armoring the hills with grades over 15%. The rock sections total 1300 feet, making this new trail a sure bet for a tough ride, while also being sustainable. The trail is mostly blue/black, with wicked sections of black and double black. The trail starts at south side of the Parkway Bridge over I-394 (enter along the sidewalk) and flies down the hill to the far south end of the loop. It makes its way back north by climbing and descending the hillside over and over again. It ends near where it starts at the Parkway on top of the hill. Be sure you are going the correct direction! The trail can also be accessed on the south side. This trail will be challenging and dangerous. Be sure to check out the trail before going in with guns blazing! And stay on the designated bike trails as there are many hikers and families that use the walking-only trail around the lake.

Access Info

Access the trail from the south side of the Parkway bridge over I-394. Stay on the designated mountain bike trails. Path around the lake is pedestrian only.

Best technical trail in the twin cities. Wouldn't try it unless you have mad skills. Each loop takes about 20 minutes. I'm in pretty good shape and my best is 3 loops. It's a full body workout!!!
