From its eastern end, the Buck Mountain trail can be ridden as essentially a 4-mile western extension of the Umatilla Rim. At 4 miles the trail enters the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness (no bikes). Loops can be made using the various dirt roads that branch northward from FS Rd 3150.
