Reworked in Sept 2019 by Nature Trails, LLC. to enhance the drainage and rock armoring. Buckwheat provides lots of technical challenge with moderate ledge drops, rock gardens, and consistent technical challenge.

Recommended to ride from the north to the south for the best downhill. North of Buckwheat Knob, the trail is narrow, somewhat less steep, and moderately technical. Passes through pleasant areas with lush grass growing underneath large hardwood trees. Ridgeline trail passes some enormous trees and has decent views when leaves aren't present. Very steep and technical on south end with switchbacks, waterbars, rocks and roots. About 2/3 of the way down the trail, there is an extremely steep rocky section- practically a cliff, and the one black diamond part of the trail. Following that, is a series of fun rooty drops.Terminates on Avery Creek rd directly across from Bennet Gap.
