Buddha Footprint Details
A nice long ride with a bit of everything. Begins with some singletrack. Then, a 10 minute hike-a-bike to the top of Doi Pha Klong, where you will find the "Buddha Footprint" at the highest point of this trail, a big out of place steel platform on cliff, and some nice views. From there, you go down nice wide double track road leading to Mae Ram area north of Chiang Mai. To go back to town, you can either take the trails or the road back.
You can climb Sriwichai Road to gain access to Ban Hmong Doi Pui if you are into climbing 3000+ft on tarmac. A better and quicker option is to hire a shuttle up from the front of Chiang Mai Zoo to Ban Hmong Doi Pui. Ride through Ban Hmong Doi Pui's flower garden, take the highest paved path. A Hmong may ask you for 10baht entry fee. Tell him/her that you are going to Doi Pha Klong. They will probably laugh at you and let you in for free. The pavement will turn to dirt road. Look for a trail on you right side. That's the entry to the beginning singletrack section.
