Worth riding for the scenery. The hillsides are yellow with brittlebush and poppies. Expect some Hike-A-Bike. This is a trail in the 4X4 sense --...

FYI, this is not a bike trail. Great views, but it's just a 4x4 road.

I’ve done this trail (south to north) on a hardtail mtb and a rigid gravel bike with 48mm tires. There is a lot of loose rock but it’s doable. I had to walk a couple of short sections on the gravel bike, but it’s 98% rideable. It’s definitely more pleasant on a mtb. The first few miles (from the south) were the worst, and the remainder was pretty tame. I wouldn’t recommend this as a stand alone ride, but it’s an awesome connector for a big ride. It’s just a 4x4 road but there is great scenery.
