Burke Brook Ravine is a forested area that extends from Bayview Avenue to where the brook joins the West don river in Sunnybrook Park.
Trail upgrades along Burke Brook Ravine on the north side of the brook, from the paved trail adjacent to the Sunnybrook Park Off-Leash Area to the stormwater outlet from Sunnybrook Hospital, were completed in 2013.
These upgrades - including surface upgrades, boardwalk and fencing - were undertaken to improve the condition and safety of the trail for users, as well as protect the riverbank and significant mature maple-beech forest in the area.
Burke Brook Forest has been identified as an Environmentally Significant Area (ESA) by the City of Toronto and Toronto Region Conservation. The site is also protected under the City of Toronto's Ravine and Natural Features by-law.
