The Butterbredt Canyon Road follows the sandy bottom of Butterbredt Canyon starting from the Jawbone Canyon Road in the south, ending at Kelso Valley Road in the north. The going is mostly sandy and very moguled, high clearance and 4wd required.
Near the south end of the road is Butterbredt Spring, a 'wildlife sanctuary' spring that is fenced to protected it for use by passing critters.
There are several campsites along the road. Several trails traverse the area, both moto and hiking, and there are some interesting hiking objectives in the area, including HPS-listed Butterbredt Peak and Mayan Peak.
