Este caminho liga a Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Lagoa, construída em 1750 e cercada por casas coloniais e caminhos de pedra, ao alto do Morro do Assopro, no caminho próximo à rampa de saltos (asa delta). Anteriormente era caminho de ligação da Igreja e Lagoa da Conceição com o caminho do Travessão que fazia a ligação da cidade do Desterro com o norte da Ilha. O caminho apresenta trechos bastante íngremes e escorregadios. Percorre áreas de mata densa e úmida nas encostas do Morro do Assopro, em longos trechos praticamente retos, em alto desnível.
