Cascadilla Creek trail is a moderately graded trail that takes you up the Cascadilla drainage and ends at the base, or thereabouts, of Nyack Mountain and a short waterfall. The route follows an easy to follow trail down a logging road and wide forest single track trail. When you exit the forest you can pretty much make it up as you go and following my route is unnecessary. Go high, go low, it's up to you, create your own path or follow those who came before.

The best part about going up this trail is the return. That moderately graded trail you took up is now a great downhill trail that never gets you going so fast that you're out of control. If the trail is covered in powder you should experience a relatively easy, smooth as silk, controlled descent...unless it's icy then all bets are off.

Access Info

Take Hwy 2 east and when you cross the bridge going over the RR tracks (50 yards from mile marker 1 6 Cool look for the parking pullout on your right side. Walk to the west end of the pullout and take the logging road into the woods. You will cross Crystal Creek and eventually you will see power lines running down the road. Continue west until you see a wooden sign on your left that states Cascadilla Creek Trail No. 498.

Plenty of great snow. Cascadilla Creek signage is missing, look for just a wooden 4x4 post sticking out of the ground.
