Classic Butte singletrack showcases some of the best of the CDT. Hard climbs, switchbacks, granite, sand, and amazing views make this a local favorite and the final 9 miles of the Butte 100 mountain bike race.

Access Info

Park in the gravel lot on the South side of I-90 off the Homestake exit at the top of the pass. Access the other end of the trail from MT Hwy 2, park at the top of Pipestone pass.

       Rode from TH at Hwy 90 as an out-n-back. 5 miles up takes you to ridge line with excellent views of Butte MT and the valley. Trail is very well designed with switchbacks and nice tight single track. Trail was damp in places due to recent afternoon rain showers.

       Trail was cleared and mostly dry. The Northside of the main summit had 5-6 snowy switchback patches.
