A beautiful segment of the Great Western Trail that traverses through a band of conifer-aspen forest between the open sagebrush above (Strawberry Ridge) and below (Rays Valley Road). Lots of up and down crossing 2nd Water, 3rd Water, and 4th Water. Generally, the trail is more enjoyable traveling southward; the climbs are on the shady north slopes, and the south-facing slopes are very rocky and difficult to climb.

reporter Generally in good shape, with some spots of recent maintenance, but very dusty in spots, probably thanks to the cows.
