Chimney Cove Details
Travel along old historic logging trails through some of the most scenic areas of Gros Morne National Park. With dramatic cliffs and unique endangered flora and fauna. This exciting but simple route will take you on a journey to the isolated settlement of Chimney Cove. Take a stroll through the past as you explore an abandoned fishing village, and consider Newfoundland’s close connection with the sea.
If you park at the Trout River Campground the return trip is approximately 27 km. Parking at the Trout River Pond lot will make the ride closer to 32 km.
The trail can be accessed by parking at the Trout River Pond day use area. From here, you can leave the parking lot via the enter/exit, taking a left onto a dirt road that crosses a river via a single-lane bridge. Continue on this road towards the Trout River Campground. Once you reach the campground turnoff on your right, take a left and follow the road towards Chimney Cove. Alternatively, you may park at the beginning of the road near the campground without impeding traffic.
This trail is frequently used by ATVs.
