Cnoc Dubh Descent Details
After the climb up to the top of Cnoc Dubh (330+ metres at the summit) you are treated to stunning 360 degree panoramic views of the Dee valley. From this granite-topped vista you can head back down the hill towards Ballater whenre you can pick up the Cnoc Dubh descent track. A fast and technical descent with hidden dangers in the form of rocks and "bombholes' to keep an eye out for.
You can take this trail down as far as the "Anthill climb" to access the "Roller Coaster" or alternatively (if you are eagle-eyed) you can take a turn off to the left about two thirds of the way down skipping out a small section of climbing and rejoining you with the access path to the roller coaster descent.
Cnoc Dubh is a fantastic ride for the more adventurous rider seeking an adrenaline rush when mountain biking in Deeside. Its close vicinity to a lot of other cracking trails means it can be a small section of an epic day's riding or an ideal location to practice reading rough terrain at speed.
