Coal Canyon trail is actually the gulleys/washes that run parallel and cross over Coal Canyon Road. It is VERY fun for exploring, and due to the flooding that can/does happen with heavy rains it is always changing conditions. When I rode it at the end of July 2019, several sections were very boulder strewn and barely ridable. Other sections were nearly flat with perfectly compacted dirt. Tons of OHV trails split of, so for the super adventurous it can be a good starting point.

Disclaimer

It does border some areas that are for shooting ranges, so be aware when you are in the area.

A lovely ride, works much of the year. Perfect condition. Upper stretch requires wide tires, lower would be fine with gravel bike.
