Coeur d'Alene backcountry classic. This is a well maintained non-motorized use Forest Service Trail. Popular with adventure bike riders and anglers. A few sections have short, steep climbs and some exposed cliff sections. You will be rewarded with amazing views of the upper North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River. Longer, more difficult loop sections exist in the area, but this is a great out and back. Pack your fishing rod as this section of river is a hot spot for fly fishing. Just make sure to call the Forest Service office before you go to find out if it has been cut out for the year.
From Coeur d'Alene, Idaho drive east on I-90 taking the Kingston Exit #43. After exiting, travel north on Forest Highway 9 (FH9) 23 miles to Forest Road #208 (FR208 ). Continue on FR208 for 25 miles to the lower trailhead. It's a long ways out there, but it is paved the whole way.
