The community ‘blue’ mountain bike trail is a 5km clockwise loop around Archallagan Forest taking cyclists to some of the quietest corners of the woodland. It actually meanders through three of the Island’s Parishes, providing some wonderful vistas from all four boundaries, but also passes through the heart of the Forest with its secret pond.
The trail is designed for mountain bikers with basic off road riding skills. Trail surfaces may include small obstacles of roots and rock, but are suitable for most mountain bikes. You can start the trail from any of the Forest’s 3 car parks—just follow the markers.

The Department is indebted to a number of individuals and organisations that have contributed to the trail’s creation. Firstly, to Dan Wood a local volunteer trail builder, who identified the recreational potential of Archallagan and who has worked tirelessly with the Community Services team (after which the trail is named) to create many of the tracks that can be found here. Additional support has been given by the End to Legacy and a band of enthusiastic volunteers who have given up their free time to assist with stoning the trails. Big thanks are also given to DfE for its financial assistance and to trail building contractor, Steve Collins, who has overseen the more technical engineering aspects of the route to make it more sustainable.
We hope you enjoy your ride, but would ask you to respect other users, particularly horse riders. Please slowdown when approaching and passing horses, or when exiting tree cover on to the main forest road so as not to spook them.
Remember Forest Roads are shared use trails. Please share with care.
