A serious back country ride! You will not have cell coverage for most of the way. The trail winds in and out of Willmore Park on old horseback trails and fire roads that have turned to single track. This could be part of a multi-day trip into Jasper and Wilmore Parks. You are not likely to meet anyone out there so be prepared for whatever may come your way. The best time to ride this trail is late summer or fall as there are many creek crossings. You will be treated to spectacular views of the northern ranges of the Willmore.
From the east end drive to the Foothills Mill site and follow the haul road to the Muskeg Main, it is just before the rail crossing. Drive until you see a large gas wellsite on your left and the Muskeg River valley to the south. There is a gate across the road to prevent highway vehicles from going further. Start your ride here. Take a right at the bottom of the hill. Alternatively you could ride the A la Peache Trail from Pierre Grey Prov. Park to the same location adding about 12 km to the trip.
From the west start at the Cowlick Creek Staging area located 3 km south of Grande Cache on Highway 40. Follow the trail out of the parking lot, turn right along the canal and cross the bridge.
