Coyote Canyon is a one of the better and more popular trails in Sage Hills and can be ridden in both directions. Beginner riders will not relish climbing the switchbacks toward the top where the trail intersects with Lightning as they can be a bit rutted with punchy sections. The trail can be narrow in spots with some exposure but it's a great test for beginners and a solid intermediate trail.

The trail from the bottom traverses the hillside and goes through a gully before starting to climb up three switchbacks to the middle of Lightning.

Seasonal Closure: Every winter the PUD and CDLT properties in the the Sage Hills are closed from December 1 to April 1. In winter, mule deer move down into these lands and, at a time when they are nearly starving, they can ill afford the calorie expenditure needed to avoid people and pets.

This trail is unsanctioned.
