First and foremost this is a motorcycle trail and it shows, it is very rooty and rutted. For the first several miles this is a hike-a-bike, you will be on and off your bike more times than you can count, but of course this will pay off on the return. Very few trails as technical as this one. If you get a chance to look around while pushing your bike, the forest in this area is amazing.

Winding through a tree plantation and along a forested ridge, this 5.3 mile trail offers glimpses of Mount Rainier and Shark Rock as well as stunning views of Mount Adams as it connects with Boundary Trail #1 near Craggy Peak, 5.3 miles from Wright Meadow Trail.

The Craggy Peak Trail #3 starts at its intersection with Wright Meadow Trail #80 on Forest Road 9327. The trail climbs gently–first in a tree plantation, then along a forested ridge. After 2.5 miles you will come to the junction with the Stabler Camp Trail #17. As you continue, you will have glimpses of Mount Rainier and Shark Rock. One mile later, near the first small subalpine meadow, Blue Lake can be seen to the east, 400 feet below. A short distance further, Basin Camp Trail #3B drops into a glacial cirque lined with meadows and wildflowers. At the bottom is a good camping spot with water and stunning views of Mount Adams. Craggy Peak Trail connects with Boundary Trail #1 near Craggy Peak, 5.3 miles northeast from Wright Meadow.

In Case of Emergency:

The National Volcano Monument has a few emergency telephones scattered around. Decide whether to call for help or to go to the nearest hospital listed above.

The nearest one to Wright Meadow (lower trailhead) is the Fire and Rescue Station on NF-90. If you call, you may need to wait, there have been reports of people calling and giving up, so they arrive to find nobody there.
Right next to the fire and rescue center is the Burger Buggy General Store. They likely have a satellite phone, give them a try if they are open.
Pine Creek Info Station. If they are open, they can help.
Swift Forest Camp reportedly has an emergency phone and/or repeater. This is located 0.2 miles west (left turn from NF-90), just past the Pine Creek Info Station.

Access Info

rail can be accessed from Forest Road 9327-040 spur or Boundary Trail #1.
From Cougar, WA head northeast on Lewis River Road/ Forest Road 90 for about 18 miles. Then go left on Forest Road 25 and follow for another 5.5 miles. Then stay right on Forest Road 93 for 13 miles and go left on Forest Road 9327 and follow to the 040 spur.
